Syrian Army forces put to death more than 70 terrorists and destroyed their vehicles as the army troops were pushing their way further into Northern areas in Hama province, military sources said on Thursday.

The military sources said pro-government forces impose the heavy casualties on the al-Nusra militants after they took back more lands in the province at the end of heavy clashes with the terrorists.

The killings of the militants occurred in rugged areas near the villages of Maan, Tayebeh al-Esm and al-sha'ateh, North of Hama province.

Earlier on Thursday, the Syrian air force staged massive airstrikes in Hama province in a bid to deter an Al-Nusra attack on a number of villages near Maan.

"Soon after the al-Nusra terrorist carried out assaults on several villages near Maan in Hama province, the Syrian jets conducted sweeping airstrikes on the group's positions in the region," the sources said.

During the operation, the Syrian warplanes targeted militants' positions and gatherings, Killing dozens of militants and destroying their military hardware including a number of vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns.
